This non-alcoholic gin is completely alcohol-free and made with a combination of rock samphire also called sea fennel , sage, a proprietary Pentire plant blend, citrus and Cornish sea salt.

The brand recommends pouring about 1. You can garnish with a lemon peel or a sprig of rosemary to complement the grassy notes. You can also use it to make a Negroni or a gin-based Old Fashioned.

The Ritual Aperitif Alternative combines filtered water, cane sugar, natural flavors, citric acid, vegetable juice for color , xanthan gum, caramel color, stevia extract, sodium benzoate and potassium sorbate as preservatives.

This aperitif comes in a milliliter bottle, which is about 17 servings if you stick to 1. Of course, servings will depend on how you use it. This is formulated to mimic a genuine aperitif. It has similar flavor notes with the dry finish that can help stimulate appetite. You can drink this just like you would any other aperitif.

You can enjoy it straight up, on the rocks or mixed into a cocktail. According to the Food and Drug Administration FDA , a non-alcoholic drink is one that contains less than 0. Jazz up your holiday party with this sparkling sipper. Orange, pomegranate, and cranberry flavors pack a fruity punch while juniper syrup store-bought or homemade lends a herbaceous, slightly bitter note. Why pick one refreshing summertime sipper when you can combine two?

You'll want to serve this crowd-favorite for all your backyard barbecues from now on. Give your sweet tea a seasonal twist.

A pitcher of this basil-and-strawberry-laden beverage is sure to hit the spot—with or without alcohol. It's hard not to reminisce on childhood days when enjoying this perfectly tart and sweet cold drink.

Adults and kids alike will be coming back for a second glass. As the official cocktail of Maryland's Preakness Stakes, a Black-Eyed Susan cocktail is delicious with or without bourbon. Our slushie version calls for pineapple and citrus juices, ginger ale, and plenty of fun garnishes.

This simple refreshment that has been served as a non-alcoholic alternative since the s only requires three ingredients—cola, grenadine, and maraschino cherries to garnish. Lean into summer with watermelon and basil in this rendition of the traditional Southern beverage.

Give the traditionally yellow refreshment a pink hue with homemade syrup made from fresh strawberries. Don't worry, the syrup comes together in just 10 minutes. Any Southern host knows you should always have a pitcher of sweet tea on hand whether you're expecting company or not.

The trick to our version is a touch of baking soda to make it extra clear. Great for kids and adults alike, this non-alcoholic drink is especially delicious in summer when raspberries are at their sweetest and most juicy.

Infuse chilled black tea with a homemade pineapple simple syrup and lime juice for a burst of tropical flavor.

Serve batch-style with fruit and citrus wedges to garnish. Lemonade and fresh mint leaves provide a flavorful fruit twist to this classic summer drink. Give store-bought strawberry lemonade a little extra love with a three-ingredient house-made rhubarb syrup.

This icy sipper is a delicious way to combine the sweet-tart flavors of lemonade and blueberry. We call for frozen blueberries, but you can use fresh, too. Substitute sparkling water, we recommend plain or lemon-flavored, for Champagne to create a thirst-quenching mocktail.

While this family-friendly recipe feels extra festive for the Fourth of July, you can make it for picnics and potlucks all summer long. Freeze-dried strawberries and raspberries are blended to create a berry powder which gives the drink its vibrant hue.

We always love something that can be made ahead of time and this cider checks the box. You can prepare it and store in the fridge for three days before serving.

Strawberries are the star of this upgraded Southern staple. Garnish with whole strawberries for a party-worthy look. Instead of sweetening your iced tea with sugar, use honey instead.

Add some grated fresh ginger for a delightful twist. The perfect shade of pink for showers and ladies lunches, this sweet-tart punch features pink lemonade for a festive perk-me-up.

You can also add two ounces of liquor for a quick and easy cocktail. The bottles are also quite cute with minimalist branding and the flavor notes printed on the paper seal over the cap for quick reference. Each bottle has no added sugar and is infused with adaptogens and herbs aimed at helping with stress although, in my opinion, these have enough going for them that this selling point feels more like an afterthought.

Non-alcoholic beers are another staple for anyone sober-curious looking for helpful tricks to stay booze-free at a party without feeling like they're missing out.

She's not the only one who thinks so: Run Wild also won the World Beer Award gold medal and USA's Best Non-Alcoholic Beer in the World Beer Awards. Any IPA fan will approve of this brew's taste, too, which is a blend of five kinds of hops and delivers a balance of bitterness and maltiness.

At just 70 calories and less than. CleanCo is a British-based non-alcoholic spirit company that makes gin, tequila, rum, and vodka alternatives.

Its Clean T, a no-ABV tequila replacement, is a very decent mimic of the Mexican spirit. Unlike a lot of the other best nonalcoholic spirits, Clean T doesn't have any kind of chemical smell or taste, which I found to be a great start. Overall it tastes, well, clean that's likely in part to the fact that it's super low in sugar , with a hint of fresh melon and earthy tones.

This UK-based "functional spirit" brand is another leading addition to the adaptogen, non-alcoholic spirits category. Three Spirits offers three flavors: Livener , which is fortified with euphoric and energizing plants and has a bright, sweet, citrusy flavor; Social Elixir , which is made with green tea, yerba mate, and lion's mane mushroom for a steady social buzz and bittersweet, earthy taste; and Nightcap , intended to be a nightcap delicious enough to drink over ice and enhanced with relaxing valerian root and lemon balm.

Although each formula flirts with the upper-end of our healthy sugar content, I found each to be delicious enough to drink on the rocks or with tonic. It was refreshing to not have to do any kind of mixology to score a delicious drink.

I also really enjoyed its witchy branding and ended up saving the bottles to be reused as pretty simple syrup bottles and decor. These zero-proof spirits are uniquely crafted with tea, herbs, and adaptogens based on the intersection of eastern medicine and mixology.

With no preservatives, sugars, extracts, or artificial ingredients, the nutrition label is quite clean. But it's also unique: The Rasāsvāda elixirs are made with items not often found in a cocktail, like artichoke leaf, Pu'er tea, maqui berry, ginseng, bergamot, burdock root, and rishi mushroom.

They're also intended to act as a digestive aid, libido boost, or hangover helper although I never felt any different after drinking any of these. There are three distinct bottles: A tangy, floral, and citrusy option called Ruby Artemisia; a classic Italian bitter called Rose Bergamont; and Black Ginger, an earthy and biting flavor that was my personal favorite for its complexity.

I really enjoyed the complex and unique flavor profile of each Rasāsvāda blend, which is why the brand earned a place on our list of the best nonalcoholic drinks. But they're definitely for the more adventurous and luxurious drinker: The brand's website offers 18 mocktail recipes and while some call for niche home bar ingredients like fermented Korean plum sauce or wormwood tinctures, others call for something as simple as sparkling water or a lemon twist.

It's easy to write off Topo Chicos as over-priced sparkling water, particularly since it's the uber-cool thing to order at a bar or restaurant if you're sober-curious or on a detox. But its unique carbonation and earthy balance of flavor which is drawn from a limestone spring are much more akin to a cocktail than other sparkling waters which often feel like healthy soda.

For this reason, I think it makes one of the best nonalcoholic drinks. I personally pour it over ice in a fancy glass and add lemon and cardamom bitters. But it also makes for the ideal sugar-free mixer for anything listed here. I also love that if you don't use a whole bottle, it stays carbonated for a few days.

Monday Gin is one of the best non-alcoholic gins I found among the handful I tested. For starters, it smells the most like gin when you open the bottle which is also why I wouldn't recommend it for recovering alcoholics as this might be triggering.

It has the kick and crisp of a classic London Dry but the personality of a New American-style with strong spices and botanicals. But the flavor is well-balanced enough that even with just tonic, or soda water and lemon, this is an enjoyable drink on its own.

I love that you don't need bartender skills to make a nice beverage with it. There's also no sugar in the formula. Monday Gin's beautiful art deco branding makes this bottle a worthy addition to any bar cart, too.

However, as is the case with most gorgeous bottles and classy formulas, you'll pay slightly more for the aesthetic. If you're looking for a low-cost way to foray into the best nonalcoholic spirits market, Ritual 's gin alternative makes for a stiff mocktail. With a lean to the juniper, piney side, Ritual's elixir is bright, crisp, and citrusy.

Personally, I like my spirits a little more complex, so I preferred Ritual's gin mixed with a few more flavors. Other taste testers in my cohort, however, named this as their favorite gin and tonic replacement, so there's a lot to say here about personal palate. Ritual's gin has no added sugar, which is a definite plus but you may find the need to add some sweetness to any cocktail you make via muddle fruit or simple syrup.

The formula does include xanthan gum in a low dose, which may fuss with anyone who has a sensitive stomach. SipClean is a tasty non-alcoholic rosé when you want a girly vibe. It's actually made similar to the boozy version: The winemaker pulls Californian grapes, puts them through the traditional fermentation process, and then removes the alcohol from the close-to-final product.

That's why the final product tastes remarkably like rosé. I will say, SipClean leans a bit on the sweet side. But not too sweet to drink, and overall it comes across quite balanced and cheery.

I cracked my taste-test can of SipClean on a sober Monday as I was settling in to watch "The Bachelor" and it delivered the air of imbibement I was craving while still being able to stay alcohol-free. SipClean only has 30 calories and 5 grams of sugar per 12 oz can, which would technically be two glasses of wine.

The brand also makes a CBD-infused version, SipCozy, which is equally tasty and celebratory. I love that SipClean comes in a can, too, so you can take it on picnics or to the beach when you want to celebrate the day without any impairment.

Seedlip is a great staple for any sober bar cart, and one of the most popular mocktail ingredients in restaurants as the spirits offer the botanical notes you'd otherwise get from booze.

It's made much like gin, by combining herbs and other botanicals and distilling them using alcohol. With Seedlip, however, the alcohol is removed before bottling to make it one of the best nonalcoholic drinks I tested. The formula is also entirely sugar-free.

Though the company offers three flavors, Grove 42 is the one worth mentioning read about the Spice 94 and Garden in 'What else we tried'. Grove 42 is a blend of citrus, lemongrass, and ginger which does well to deliver an overall summer vibe.

Because these flavors are so bright to start, it's easy to turn this spirit into a craft cocktail by just adding ginger ale or tonic water. Proteau's Ludlow Red is a viscous, deep ruby elixir that gives off the impression of a perfectly decanted Cab or Malbec.

But it's not really a wine replacement: The formula was specifically crafted by the founder, a mixologist and hospitality expert, to be an accompaniment to food.

These features, along with the sophisticated bottle shape and beautiful label, all make the Ludlow Red ideal to sit on the table of any dinner party.

When it comes to taste, the Ludlow Red falls more into a complex, botanical juice, which makes sense considering its top ingredients are blackberry juice and fig vinegar. Though the flavor is lovely, it's certainly not wine. This is certainly a bummer for oenophiles trying to cut back on their alcohol intake, but a real boon for anyone actually sober who's looking for a cultured refreshment to enjoy alongside a meal.

You've probably seen Kin Euphorics on your IG feed. Because of this, Kin Euphorics is not recommended for anyone who is pregnant or breastfeeding.

I tried both of its elixirs, but Dream Light is the one that stood out. It's intended to help you relax and better fall asleep — truly a nightcap — after you mix it with oat milk, either cold or hot.

I made myself a cup with warm almond milk and it tasted similar to a warm chai, albeit a bit smokier thanks to notes of clove, ginger, cinnamon, and chili.

Personally, I didn't find that the drink made me feel any more relaxed or sleepy, but I did enjoy the warm milk-before-bed feeling of the drink, particularly since it has no added sugar unlike a real chai. The Dream Light is a bit steep, especially as it has a one-dimensional use.

But if you live for a bedtime routine, this is the best nonalcoholic drink to serve as a companion to nightly journaling or any unwinding process. I got many a targeted ad for Ghia and was seriously drawn in by the witchy-retro 70s branding.

Your choices were either tonic water with a garnish or a fancy mocktail that requires all types of mixers and a lot of effort on your part. But thanks to an increasing interest in booze-free options—many are catching on to the fact that alcohol can negatively affect athletic performance and make it harder to reach your wellness goals—several companies have introduced new alcohol-free drinks.

These mimic the most delicious of cocktails, without the buzz, hangover or resulting dehydration. Because there are so many options available now, we narrowed the pool down to seven of our top choices, all of which are ideal for health and wellness enthusiasts.

Plus, a zero-proof spirit and aperitif to help whet your appetite so you can hit your macro goals. Whatever your sipping preference, these are the best non-alcoholic drinks to quench your thirst in This content is meant to be informative, but should not be taken as medical advice.

Unlike other booze-free drinks that just eliminate the alcohol, this one has a sparkling water base with adaptogens, herbs and amino acids, like L-theanine, that make the concoction beneficial to your health.

Dragonfruit is the main flavor profile, but it also has a hint of ginger for some spice. Some reviewers say this non-alcoholic beverage emulates a Moscow Mule, with spicy and sweet flavor notes and a little kick of ginger.

There are also some underlying fruity notes, which makes it light and refreshing. There are only a handful of natural and organic ingredients in this canned cocktail.

The ingredient list is as follows: carbonated water, apple juice, erythritol, natural flavor, citric acid, malic acid, organic apple cider, Panax Ginseng extract, L-theanine and stevia extract. The ingredients in the Sans alcohol-free drink make it similar to a seltzer.

However, reviewers say the ginger gives it some Moscow Mule cocktail vibes. These canned mocktails are ready-to-drink, so you can chill them, pop the top and sip. If you want to spruce things up a bit, you can pour it over ice and add some ginger ale, ginger beer or fruit juice.

If you prefer your drinks bubble-free, these non-alcoholic spirits from Seedlip are an excellent addition to your bar cart. Instead, the water base can help keep you hydrated, which is ideal during heavy training days. There are three flavors in the set—Garden , Grove 42 and Spice The flavor notes are very distinct between the three options.

Grove 42 is light and citrusy, with some zest and a small amount of spice from the ginger and lemongrass.

Spice 94 has warm spice notes combined with some citrus and a bitter finish. Each flavor of the Seedlip spirits starts with water, but is made with its own blend of natural botanical distillates and extracts.

Garden has peas, hay, spearmint, rosemary, thyme and hops. Grove 42 combines bitter orange, blood orange, lemongrass, lemon, mandarin and ginger. Spice 94 is made from allspice, oak, green cardamom, cascarilla, grapefruit and lemon.

Each milliliter bottle can make about 12 to 14 mocktails, but the exact number of servings depends on the amount your pour. The company recommends mixing about two ounces of Seedlip spirits with a premium mixer like ginger beer or a bittersweet tonic and adding a garnish like an orange peel.

It can contain up to 0. OliPop is a better-for-you soda that combines a proprietary prebiotic blend with botanicals and plant fibers to help support digestive health. Each can contains only two to five grams of sugar for reference, a regular can of soda has 39 grams and a whopping nine grams of fiber.

There are no refined sugars and all ingredients are non-GMO. OliPop comes in 14 flavors. There are soda-like options, including vintage cola, classic root beer, cherry cola, lemon-lime, Doctor Goodwin and cream soda. We also love the nuanced and fruity flavors, like banana cream, tropical punch, strawberry vanilla, cherry vanilla, orange squeeze, watermelon lime, classic grape and ginger lemon.

They also contain a touch of Himalayan pink salt. Related Post: The Best Probiotic Drinks. You can drink OliPop chilled right out of the can, or you can pour it over ice and add a garnish.

If you want to lighten it up a bit to be more reminiscent of a seltzer, you can pour it into a glass with some soda water to dilute it. If you want a wine-like beverage without alcohol content, this sparkling version from TÖST is one of the closest completely non-alcoholic options you can get.

The tea is combined with sparkling water to give a light effervescence. There are two TÖST beverages: the original and the rosé version. TÖST has a subtle sweetness, with some hints of citrus and a dry finish. TÖST Rosé has a more delicate palate, with a fruity nose and crisp citrus.

Both versions start off with triple-filtered water, but have different main ingredients. The original combines white tea, white cranberry and ginger, while the rosé has white tea, ginger and elderberry. Also, it was billed as sparkling, but our bottle was actually bubble-free.

The cloudy, pale yellow drink tasted predominantly of yuzu, lemon, and orange rinds, like a complex lemonade. The aroma reminded panelists of borscht and vinegary boquerones, while the flavor had the unmistakable umami taste of soy sauce and beets.

Prickly warmth from sansho pepper called to mind the bite of alcohol. Sounds odd? It was—but our panelists genuinely enjoyed this uniqueness. The NON4 was originally a pick for our red category, but it ceased to be available between testing and publication.

Proxies Pink Salt less than 0. Proxies Red Clay less than 0. Proxies Red Ember less than 0. It tasted prominently of cooked fruit, with more of an elderberry flavor and slightly more acidity.

But if they sound interesting to you, they may be worth trying. Surely Non-Alcoholic Sauvignon Blanc less than 0. If a wine has less than 0. This is actually true of many types of food and drink. Even soda and fruit juice sometimes have small amounts of alcohol in them, according to the FDA.

And this is also the case for a variety of fermented drinks, including kombucha, which is a popular base for wine alternatives.

Plenty of foods have trace percentages of alcohol in them, too, like bananas and even bread products, according to a study by the Journal of Analytical Toxicology. To provide context, 0.

In our research, we found there are both dealcoholized wines and wine alternatives with 0. If alcohol content is a concern for you, be sure to check the label for the exact percentage. Online nonalcoholic beverage shops like Better Rhodes and Boisson usually include the alcoholic content of the bottles they sell or have images of the labels.

We spoke with three experts to learn more about the product: Eric Asimov , wine critic at The New York Times, who wrote Does Wine Lose Its Spirit When the Alcohol Is Removed? We discussed what someone should seek in a nonalcoholic wine, as well as which makers stood out for their processes and ingredients.

The makers and wines that Barkley and Storms recommended to us include ones they carry or have previously sold, but we independently vetted all of our picks. We narrowed our list of bottles to try based on their recommendations. We chose a total of 14 bottles from the core offerings at the time of tasting, in spring Our tasting panel included kitchen editor Gabriella Gershenson, Wirecutter contributor Winnie Yang, Aqxyl Storms of Minus Moonshine, and me.

In early , we conducted a smaller tasting to replace picks that had been discontinued. Along with Gabriella and senior editor Marguerite Preston, I tasted a total of 10 bottles from Leitz, NON, Proxies, and Surely.

For both sessions, we tasted the bottles in four rounds: sparkling rosé and still rosé, sparkling white and still white, and sparkling red and still red.

Not all of the wines we tried fit perfectly into these categories, but we did our best to group them appropriately. In each round, we started with the wine alternatives, which tended to have less familiar, more unconventional flavors, and we ended with the grape-based dealcoholized wines.

Using a tasting rubric that we created with input from Jillian Barkley of Soft Spirits, we evaluated each drink with the following qualities in mind:. When tasting, we looked for balanced NA wines that offered complex and compelling flavors. We tasted each drink alone and then with food, and between rounds we cleansed our palates with water and crackers.

For the dealcoholized wines, we took into account how they compared to the wines they were derived from. For wine alternatives, we looked for an interesting beverage that was analogous to wine in its nuances and sensations, as opposed to a replica of it.
