Store-bought puff pastry and a pre-cooked rotisserie chicken are two very helpful shortcuts when it comes to this one-pot meal.

We also developed a soup version of chicken pot pie , just for fun. Giving chunky zucchini pieces a hard sear develops lots of texture and color while minimizing sogginess. The dilly sour cream provides a garlicky counterpart. When you need a weeknight-friendly recipe that doubles as a cheap dinner idea, stir-fry is the answer.

Is there ever a bad time for a quesadilla? This one is easy, cheesy, and a smart way to finish up that jar of kimchi hanging out in the fridge. Although we and most of our readers love the mixture of nutritional yeast , garlic powder, and onion powder on these vegan nuggets, one commenter was less impressed.

If you too crave something bolder, try the method with taco seasoning instead. The humble onion is given center stage in this cheap meal.

Seared, then gently roasted with paprika and tomato paste, these onions prove they have star quality. Transform a can of pumpkin purée into a near-instant pasta sauce—no slow cookers here— that delivers major fall feels.

Bonus: Leftovers will keep in an airtight container in the refrigerator for two to three days. With a generous layer of caramelized onions and plenty of sharp Gruyère cheese, this tart packs the depth of French onion soup into every bite.

The tofu in this cheap recipe absorbs all of the flavors in the sauce—and there are a lot of them: shallots, ginger, garlic, cumin, red chile, turmeric, coconut cream , and peanut butter.

It all becomes a sauce you have to make and see to believe. Crunchy fried onions transform a simple cabbage salad into a sensorial delight: hot and cold, crisp and soft, sweet and spicy. Make sure to assemble it just before eating in order to capture those different textures.

When the coffers are dry and so is the bread on the counter, this is the one. This cheap meal requires just a few other ingredients, most of which are already in your kitchen. A garlicky mixture of ginger, soy sauce, brown sugar, and maple syrup cooks down until almost sticky in this riff on a Chinese-American classic sesame chicken.

An untraditional but logical addition to the sauce: tahini. You might be surprised by just how flavorful a combination of chicken stock, celery, and chickpeas can be. Garlic, red chiles, lemon, and fresh cilantro contribute to making it so—while still keeping it feeling clean.

If you can swing it, add a big pinch of asafetida for an extra savory note. Quick-cooking, budget-friendly, and pretty hard to screw up that dark meat is automatically juicier , chicken thighs are our default weeknight dinner—and this is our simplest way to prepare them.

These battered, oven-baked florets come out crackly before getting bathed in a sticky-sweet gochujang glaze. It means you have croutons. Ground turkey is a lean protein that, when simmered with white beans, seasonings, and chipotle chiles in adobo and topped with Greek yogurt, delivers major body and richness.

The key to stress-free stir-frying is in the prep work. Be sure to chop, slice, and grate everything before even thinking about turning on the stove. Once you do, it comes together in 15 minutes.

A little bit of flour and butter, garlic, lemon juice, and capers , and you've got a super savory supper. Say that three times fast. This all-star easy dinner recipe will work long after corn has gone out of season.

In the winter, just sub in shaved cauliflower or torn kale. This soup packs in all the ingredients that would make your doctor happy—lentils, sweet potatoes, leafy greens—but the fiery Thai green curry paste keeps things interesting.

This Haitian meal consists of sos pwa nwa, black bean sauce enriched with coconut milk, served alongside mayi moulen, a creamy cornmeal porridge flavored with garlic and herbs.

Nothing is cozier. This family-friendly weeknight dinner takes a cue from Japanese grilled chicken meatballs called tsukune as well as the glossy, sweet-and-sour sauce that comes with them.

A classic Italian pesto , this is not. Spinach, cilantro, and miso come together for this uber-green sauce, which dresses, of course, springy ramen noodles. In this brothy beans recipe, caramelizing fennel, shallots, and lemon builds a base layer that is sweet, tangy, and bright.

Tinned sardines add protein and a briny flavor. A beloved Hong Kong dish with approximately one billion variations, this soup—which relies heavily on fridge and pantry staples—is meant to be a little sweet and a touch sharp.

Its silky texture comes from blended potatoes and broccoli stalks rather than heavy cream. Well, this is the salad version, with noodles in addition to pink radishes , orange carrots, purple cabbage, and green cucumbers.

One head of cabbage goes a long way. This recipe, where wedges are bathed in turmeric-accented coconut milk until meltingly tender and sweet, uses just half of one to feed four.

The soul of this recipe comes from the ginger and tamari marinade that gives crispy tofu a sweet and savory glaze. We like to turn leftover tofu into tacos, for some Japanese-Mexican fusion.

Toss roasted sweet potato wedges in a sweet and nutty tahini dressing for this quick vegetarian weeknight dinner. And no, it will not break the bank. This budget meal is about turning leftover side dishes into something totally new.

Nearly any roasted vegetable or cooked grain could be worked into a frittata using this method. This looks like something that took hours in a crockpot to make, but in reality, the black-eyed peas soak up the flavors of an onion- and tomato-based gravy in under 30 minutes.

Tuna salad deserves to be considered a dinner dish, not just a sandwich filling. Let the pan-fried chickpeas and red endive in this recipe convince you.

Pan-crisped and glazed sweet potatoes. With hearty, almost meaty lentils. And pistachios. Purchase lasagna noodles, mushrooms, mozzarella, and Parmesan.

The rest of the ingredients for this cheap dinner recipe are already in your fridge or pantry. One style of cheap meals: recipes chosen with their leftovers in mind , making two meals out of one. For example, these ground beef meatballs and their tomato sauce make for a great hoagie filling the next day.

If you've already got miso in your fridge and don't want to spend on something new, you could use that in this stew recipe instead of gochujang. Favorites include a Jamaican-style, curried beef-filled offering, the stewed chicken-packed saltena, and a vegetarian option.

Been to Carolina, to Kansas City, to Santa Maria CA the smoked rib tips were to die for. Kids had the pulled pork sandwiches super yum. I recommend the fried Brussels sprouts, the grits, and the Mac n Jack cheese. Well worth the drive to this lovely local neighborhood gem!

Tried this local bbq place for date night and it was amazing. The brisket was very juicy and tender. The pulled pork was delicious. The fried Brussel sprouts with their signature sauce is very tasteful. The fried onions were amazing with whatever spices they coated them with.

Everything was just delicious and worth the money! The staff was nice and helpful. This place is also really clean and lively. Was disappointed today bought 2 brisket sandwiches an 3 fries greens and brisket and rib tips brisket, and rib was very hard dry some rubbery like it was old food I buy here often love the brisket but it always fresh an tender.

Never experienced this.. and I was never told there was 2 different briskets on the sighs I ask for briskets and always was perfect until I went this pacific day this was a waste of my money..

this meat was not fresh old hard rubbery and dry …. We visited this place for some spare ribs and chicken wings and we totally fell in love with the food and the atmosphere. Really really great food! This is my favorite spot to go to on a Friday, Saturday night with the girls. My oldest daughter and I come here anytime she comes home on her college break This is our designated spot to have a great time.

If you haven't been, it is a must.. Great place for watching sports and grabbing a bite to eat. The service și fast and the food is good.

The portions are really big. It's also good that it closes at 11pm for any evening snackers. Mexican restaurant. Latin American restaurant. If you're in the mood for some classic Mexican fare, The Well Dressed Burrito is the place to go.

It's located down a side alley off 19th Street NW, and it serves four burritos that won't break the bank. All of the ingredients are fresh and delicious, and the restaurant has a colorful decor that will make you feel right at home.

It was after walking 10km in the city with our three teens that we stopped at The Well Dressed Burrito. It had a good score on Google and we wanted something quick. We were impressed with this little place. The food was good and warm, the employee super patient with us french Canadians and the place was clean.

We had a different meals and everyone was happy with their food. I definitely recommend this place but be aware, seated places are very limited, 10 at most. Since , locals will tell you to go to a Dupont Circle alley to find a good burrito. After going for lunch on a Wednesday, here's my experience: 1 Food: Posted at the entryway in the alley is a long menu of different kinds of burritos, open-face burritos, tacos and other items.

Open every day of the week for lunch and dinner, there's always a daily special, making it a more affordable lunch in an expensive neighborhood. I ordered the grilled shrimp taco with mild salsa and all the fillings- lettuce, tomatoes, grilled onions and peppers, etc.

It was good, but I wish I had requested rice to fill in the burrito more. With a line, I only had to wait for minutes and ordering was easy! Matthews Cathedral. Inside is small, but they make good use of the space.

There's a clear area to order and a small dining area that doubles as a waiting area. There's a bookshelf filled with old cookbooks and other items, local art on the walls and a mural by Bryan King of dancing penguins by the Dupont Circle fountain.

Public art, museums and art galleries, there's a lot to do. If you love a good deli, wander a block to Bub and Pop's. I recently visited Well Dressed Burrito with high hopes, but left with mixed feelings. On a positive note, the shrimp taco salad was quite good — fresh, flavorful, and well-prepared.

The first half was overwhelmingly filled with lettuce, lacking balance in ingredients. The last quarter was even more disappointing, with dry, stale, and bland chicken that was tough to chew. This experience left me really disappointed, especially after the promising start with the shrimp taco salad.

At the end of your meal or visit, true happiness will show. Excellent burritos. I had El Gourdo and my wife had a regular with platter. This is one of the best burritos I have ever had. The meat was tender, the filling was plentiful, the price was fair and the service was friendly.

I am now sitting here with a little Mexican food baby. My wife didn't think I could finish the big one, but I destroyed it. Thanks for a great dinner guys. Located in an alley. No frills dining. There is counter seating and a couple tables that seat two. Most people seem to take food to go. We ate at the restaurant.

Food was good! A steady stream of people in and out. Large portions and delicious food! Seating is limited self service restaurant, very clean. Unfortunately there no margaritas or alcoholic drinks. So look this spot is in the CUT!! This place is a straight up gem, AND, the entrees qualify for BIG SCHLIMS LITE POCKET MEALS!!

How have I only recently learned about this place?? Will definitely be going back! We ordered our food online and scheduled delivery. It was delivered ON TIME! The food was amazing 🤩 everything was fresh and prepared well. The sauces were on point. My favorite was the birria tacos.

What an incredible little gem near DuPont Circle and Farragut North! This restaurant is quaint and unassuming, but the food was just spectacular. The customer service was great too. Everything was fresh and cooked perfectly — I got steak, and the meat quality was excellent.

Moreover, the prices were unbelievable for DC! Slide 1 of 5. Mentioned on 2 lists. Family restaurant. Fast food restaurant. Show 2 more. The family-owned Ben's Chili Bowl is an iconic DC institution that has been serving up spicy hot dogs, chili cheese fries and milkshakes for over fifty years.

It is a cultural landmark that attracts locals and celebrities alike, with a rich history dating back to the s. The menu features regional hotdogs from around the US, as well as unique variations on the classic New York dirty water dog.

A classic lunch counter in the heart of DC! Fast, friendly service. Counter order and then seat yourself. I recommend skipping it because it's not quite worth it. Spend the money on a milkshake instead! The walls are filled with pictures famous people who have eaten there.

This place is great! Definitely check it out. Great historical place to visit. It is way too expensive for hot dogs, so be careful if you take the hole family. It was a solo trip for me, so it was not that bad of a hit. It's a snack bar, but with sit down restaurant prices.

Everything tasted great, good portions. Good size hot dogs, nice chili cheese fries. The banna pudding was amazing!!! The location is beautiful, clean, bright, and the smell of the food in the air is wonderful. Service was very slow. Everyone was working hard, but food still was coming out slow.

Line moved very slow, but worth the wait. It was a pleasurable experience. The service was fantastic. Food was awesome.

I actually wished I got seconds. My friend, first time visitors, who had her son too, said the food was outstanding! We even got the opportunity to meet and take pictures with owner, Mrs.

Since I come from the city with the best hotdogs, I was skeptical at first. This place didn't disappoint and is AWESOME. I had a chili dog, cheese fries, and a bowl of chili.

It was super delicious. The order taker got our order wrong twice, but it was busy and they quickly corrected it. The place is very historic, food is great, staff is friendly, and the atmosphere is fun!

Next time I'm in DC, I will return! Or trip to Ben's couldn't have been better. No line, we snagged a great table and the food was delicious! Snappy, flavorful dogs. We, of course, order the half smoke all the way, as is right.

Every bite was a pleasure. The staff was energetic and the atmosphere was great. A well loved business that takes pride in its product and reputation.

Go now. A must try when coming to DC! I loved eating here.. everyone wears masks and are nice and friendly.. the hot dog was okay.. the burger and chili bowl with rice is what shined..

check it out. Walk in and order, they will bring you your food. There are a few tables up front, in the middle and in the back. Pictures of famous people all over the walls. Even have a TV playing with more pictures. This is a DC landmark. The place is fun to check out. But the chili was just ok Service was good.

Historic institution in the DC area, with an ambience bringing you back to the 50s and 60s. Friendly staff and locals who recommended the Classic dog with all the fixings and chili cheese fries.

The hot dog was excellent but coming in an extremely close second was the chili which had a great spicy smoky flavour to it. Can't wait to come back on my next visit to the capital. The food has always been great.

I can remember seeing Mrs. Ali greeting everyone that came in. Her two son one in the office upstairs and the other on the grill. The food is excellent!! Best Chili is the best in the DC metro area. Since their popularity thru the years the service has gone down. I was a regular.

When I stop by now, I feel as they are doing me a favor in serving me. People now go because of their fame. Not because of their hospitality as in the pass. This is a must try.

The food is great. The hospitality that it once had is gone. So it's my first time to Washington DC and I have had a few people say you HAVE to do Bens Chili bowl, so we went to the original location and I must say WOW, it definitely lives up to the hype.

This is a must go, half smoke, original, chili cheese fries and definitely banana pudding. You will not be disappointed. Everything was amazing. Ben there now and have the t shirt to prove it. Even taking some banana pudding home. Don't forget to check out the mural on the alley side of the building.

We got the half smokes and chili! Both great! The onion rings were also awesome!. We got the banana pudding for dessert and it was the cherry on top! If your only gonna go once, You have to stop here the original location!! The half smoke is one of the best Chile dogs you can have and their milkshakes just compliment the spiciness of the chili.

Just make sure you go to the original one. Their new one in the convention center is only open during events. This is one of the best hot dogs I have ever had. I ended up getting 2 of them. They are on the pricier side, but they are worth it.

They come with chili of you choose to get that as a topping. The hot dogs that ended up getting were all beef. One set of fries is all you need.

There's also a place right next door that they own that has some really good cheap drinks. Great spot. This place is legendary! During my trip to Washington DC I visited various restaurants and delicious food places, but none can even nearly match the friendly, welcoming environment that this place has.

The service combined with their delicious food makes for the perfect family run restaurant. Great DC relic. Super pleased they had vegetarian and vegan options for all entrees they serve. The service was friendly and though appeared a bit disorganized they actually had some good systems going.

Our meal was the best we had on our three days in the neighborhood eating at local restaurants with supposed chefs behind the menus. Overall I highly recommend for a chili and hot dog fix.

The vegetarian chili was outstanding- not greasy in the least. Ben's Chili Bowl is an iconic landmark in Washington, D. It's one of my favorite places for chili dogs, especially during winter.

Today was my lucky day that I had the opportunity to meet with the owner. Taco restaurant. Chaia is a fast-casual restaurant that specializes in vegetarian and vegan tacos. The tacos are made with fresh, seasonal ingredients and are topped with local micro greens.

Chaia has won many fans for its delicious food and welcoming atmosphere. Ran in here before the forecasted snow started and asked the employee for their top three tacos. He told me about the braised mushroom, creamy kale and potato, and chipotle sweet potato hash.

I used the kiosk to order the taco trio and an iced hibiscus tea then found myself a table. The service was very fast and the food was excellent.

I was pleasantly surprised with the tea because I've had bitter versions before. This was perfectly sweet and if I lived here, I'd be back. Serving vegan and vegetarian tacos, the food is rather impressive for the amount of flavor they imbue.

And while they use compostable dining-ware, they don't have a compost bin to properly dispose of the waste. They have seating both upstairs and downstairs, but one can also enjoy the tacos in the square nearby. I also got the hibiscus drink, which was good but much smaller than I had envisioned.

One of the best Vegetarian and Vegan restaurants I have visited. Must try the Brussel Sprouts Quesadilla. Loved their Herbal and Green tea as well. Ton of options and definitely will recommend to anyone who is in DC. I got one mushroom taco and one sweet potato taco — sweet potato is definitely the best.

The girl who took our order was super friendly, and our food came out within 5 minutes of ordering. I left DC a few years ago to move to CA. I came and visited DC recently and just had to go here as one of the food places I missed so very much.

The kale potato tacos are so good. Be sure to put the arugula cream sauce on top! Felt good after I left because it is healthy food! Very pleasantly surprised. All veggie taco place. Tried almost all the tacos - favorites were mushroom and creamy kale and potato. Least favorite was eggplant - needs more flavor.

The margaritas were strong and delicious! Place would be even better if they provided hot salsa, even just tapatío or yucateco on the table. Upstairs is like a home living room. Would recommend and go back. Very interesting but healthy and delicious. All vegan options but with so much flavors. So good!

We had a variety of tacos and all were so good. I had to order seconds! Staff was friendly and the girl behind the kitchen counter was very nice and helpful. It's always busy at this Chaia location. I must say, ordering and waiting are not pleasant in their tiny small space, but there is nothing that they can do about it.

They are just that popular and their operation is very efficient. I love the second floor. You may not get a seating, but once you do, it's very quiet in contrast to the first floor, and the space is beautiful-- just like an attic in a small farm house.

Please be mindful not to stay there too long for other customers. If the weather is nice, they also recommend to sit at a little public space next door. Per tacos, I would go for Braised Mushrooms with real cheese.

I did like having other ones as a side, but I cannot skip having the mushroom taco as the main. Chaia is a Georgetown institution. I have been coming here for years and the quality and deliciousness have been consistent every time.

Its the best spot to drop by for lunch, the creamy kale and potato taco is my favorite. They just added nachos to their menu which are honestly so incredible as well.

beautifully presented tacos with fresh ingredients and interesting flavor combos. they are vegetarian, though, and i wish they did more to add protein other than black beans. or that they allowed for more customization.

limited seating so it can get crowded if you have a larger party. Yes yes yes. The tacos are great here. I had this place saved on my map for 2 weeks and have wanted to try. I walk past it almost every day. Well, today I went inside after the lunch rush, about pm and no crowds, no lines… quickly ordered and received 3 tacos.

Considering the flavors, ingredients and preparation, the cost was justified. As soon as I took my first bite, I knew this place will become a regular stop. My taco palette is well seasoned and I think I found a go-to east coast fix for my taco addiction.

Additionally, I asked for some spicier salsa. Breakfast restaurant. The cafe's owners are known for their delicious steel-cut oats bowl with smoked ham, kale, caramelized onions and pecorino served only till 11 a. First time visiting. Went around 9am on a Saturday morning.

Their velvet cake is delicious. The cafe is cozy with vibrant music. Great for kids as well. I will return. They have great coffee here. they use great coffee machines.

the smoked salmon was a bit salty for my taste. Espressos and lattes apparently closes around 3. The people who work in the late afternoon are really nice. Additional visits I tried their tomato soup which was just amazing.

Steel cut oatmeal was ok. The BLT is great if you add the extra egg. Coffee so far is the best. The moment you walk in, you're greeted by an enticing array of treats that promise a delightful experience. Their cookies and cupcakes are simply delectable, showcasing a perfect balance of flavors and textures.

But what truly sets Baked Joint apart - well at least for me - is the OMG Box, a masterpiece that has my taste buds dancing with joy. This indulgent creation features a graham cracker crust, layered with homemade caramel, marshmallow, and a bittersweet chocolate glaze.

The combination is an explosion of sweet and savory, with a satisfying crunch and gooey, rich layers that blend harmoniously. First of all, whenever me and my boyfriend visit DC. This is one for favorite places to grab a quick bite to eat.

Every time we come here we get a bunch of food because we want to try everything! We are never ever disappointed. They always serve amazing food with delicious options.

I will say this place is always super busy and seating is kind of hard to find but eventually while waiting for your food you'll find seat. Everything from the bakery is amazing. Can't wait to come back again to see what's new on the menu.

Great vibes and food. I love the homemade biscuit egg sandwich. Low price for a small portion so get two if you're starving. Wouldn't rave about the coffee but it's fine in a pinch. The grandma style pizzas are solid. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating, but it fills up on weekend mornings after 10am or so.

Also look out for their free movie screenings, I went to see Spirited Away and had a blast. This will be my go to cafe from now on! The vibe in this place is so fun! You order in the line and then find a spot to sit. It was crowded when I was there but seats turned over relatively quickly.

The pear croissant and labneh toast were delish. I got a gluten free cherry chocolate cupcake to go and it was so yummy.

I do like the food here and some things are very reasonably priced.

And I wasn't expecting the ketchup to elevate the dinkng to Cheap bulk food whole new Affordable dining bargains. Wiseguy Pizza is a pizzeria in Washington, D. that specializes in classic thin-crust pies and Junior's cheesecake.

It is inspired by New York-style pizza, and offers options such as pasta loaded pies. Slide 1 of For years I would never have a decent place to recommend for NYC style pizza. That has all changed since I discovered Wise Guys.

Every time I have visited their locations I am able to get very tasty pizza slices quickly. I switch from choosing very traditional cheese or pepperoni slices to some of their more creative options.

Either way I enjoy my order. The last time I decided to get a set of 3 delicious, buttery garlic knots I ate one before remembering to take a picture. Solid pizza slices with interesting choices.

It's the version of NY pizza where the slices are a bit thicker and you have that crunchy bottom, not the foldable slice ones.

We had the Nashville Hot Chicken, Korean Chicken, Mushroom Truffle, and Buffalo. Wasn't too busy before the Caps game perhaps because it's a few blocks from the Arena. I'd return to try some of the other flavors.

A nice little hole in the wall by a very busy H street. They're open till midnight so a great late night option. Pizza by the slice with options like chicken paneer, Korean chicken, chicken tikka, spicy Nashville chicken, cheese and a whole lot more.

Pretty decent tasting pizza. This place was nothing but, GOODNESS! So many oven cooked pizza slices and whole pie options!

The prices was great! They are pictured below. The chocolate chip cookies are warm and but underbaked, perfect. I ordered the big apple 18" godfather well done from their online website.

The pizza was large and tasted delicious. I had around three slices before I put the remaining leftovers away. It took a long time to get the pizza once I arrived at the store.

I don't know if it was because they were busy but it took around 20 minutes to pick up a pizza through takeout which isn't typical. I love wiseguy pizza, I get the Buffalo chicken pizza when I go there and It is a work of art.

A lot of places put very little Buffalo sauce on there pizza but they put it on thick. This place is probably the best pizza in DC. If you are in town I highly recommend it. Hot afternoon in DC, and we found the perfect spot to grab some dinner.

We were 3 and had 2 slices each. The outside tables are perfect. Really good pizza! I tried the grandma, Margherita and supreme. All are really good. Staff are also all really friendly! Food is good and the price is reasonable.

If you looking for a late night snacking wise guy pizza is a great option right in the middle of Washington DC.. Open till late on the Washington street!! Best for after party food!! NY style pizza by the slice.

They had about types available and the system is fairly efficient. The pizza was good but not amazing. It did the trick but I probably wouldn't go too far out of my way to come back. The Korean chicken pizza was disappointing - didn't really have much flavor of anything.

And while it is nice you can order a single garlic knot, they didn't have much flavor. Really good pizzas, if you want to dine in and order whole pizza they need atleast 20 to 25 min to prepare your order.

Paid street parking is right in front of the pizza place. Dine in area is small, they do have patio seating arrangements as well. Salvadoran restaurant. The Salvadorean restaurant El Rinconcito Cafe is a favorite of locals and immigrants in the Washington, DC area for its delicious pupusas and fajitas.

The cafe is easy to find and has reasonable prices, making it a great option for budget-minded diners.

Great food, reasonable prices, and large portions! The restaurant is small but cozy and very clean. The staff are very kind and welcoming. I will definitely come back and try their other dishes. One of the best Salvadorian food restaurants I have been to in DC! My first foray into Salvadoran food and I wasn't disappointed.

Reasonably priced items , lots of options in the menu and delicious food! We came here for a quick bite and everything was pretty yummy. They have natural juices as well those were pretty good. The place is small place not to many tables, however food and service was good.

Food is very tasty. I had the beef chimichanga and I thought it was pretty good. Also the pricing is very reasonable. This place is in the heart of downtown DC so it's hard to get a better deal than that. I was there at the time that they were going to close and most of the clientele that time are people at the bar.

I noticed many people coming and going with their takeout orders and those sitting at the bar. Good friendly crowd. However don't expect to hold a conversation with anyone unless you speak Spanish yourself 🙂. El Rinconcito Cafe translating to "The Little Corner Cafe" is a small Salvadorian restaurant that provides a breath of fresh tasty air to the largely new American flavors in this area of D.

With friendly staff, their menu is pretty big - but the pupusas are the star here. The pupusas themselves are seared perfectly, with just a bit of cheese oozing out. And while some pupusas can be quite oily and wet, El Rinconcito manages to let the bread and fillings shine without overusing additional fats.

The slaw and sauce on the side is a perfect fresh accompaniment to the pupusas. I just wish they provide more of the sauce as the Salvadorian style salsa really brings life to pupusas.

The corn tamale is also pretty tasty moist with little chunks of smashed sweet corn and saved me from starving during a long wait from delayed flights. They also have Horchata, but the flavor is a bit different from what you might traditionally expect - and, as I found out later, that's because Salvadorian Horchata is made differently than Mexican Horchata!

Using Morro, cocoa, and other bold flavors, the Horchata has a sweeter, chocolate-y, earthy flavor to it. Sitting near a street corner, the restaurant is snug and ideal for an outing with a friend or two rather than a large group.

For a very affordable and delicious snack or lunch, El Rinconcito is a fantastic spot to visit in D. I had never tried Salvadoran food until El Rinconcito and it blew me away. This place is an underrated gem. Spinach and squash pupusas were very tasty and homely. The burrito was unlike any southern American food I had ever tried, full of flavor.

And the seafood soup was a challenge to eat, but very very tasty. This place is a must try if your in the DC area. Even without meat the flavor was amazing. The service here was excellent and was very welcoming and hospitable, reminded me of service back home. I only gave the atmosphere a 4 because it was a little small, and some people had to wait outside in the rain.

This place has the best horchata and the best enchiladas I have ever had. Every bite of this meal has bursts of flavor! Ever been part of the clean plate club? This place will make you a part of it so fast you will want to come back for more 🤩.

What a great hole in the wall! It was so cold and we were looking for something warm, and we saw that they served soup and that it was relatively inexpensive, and man were we blown away by the beef stew. It was SOOOO GOOD. It soothed the soul. There were carrots, tripe, tendon, bones, a knob of corn, and plantains, among other beef cuts.

It was hot in temp and just enough in spice to warm you up, but not make you gasp for water. So good. The pupusa was also delicious! I loved the salsa on the cabbage. It was a bit acidic, and in conjunction with the pupusa as well as the beef stew, it was a perfect combo.

Putting this in my "places to go in DC for delicious food" list. I only gave the atmosphere 4 stars because it's a tiny place.

This place is a gem hidden on 11th St. The pollo y queso pupusas are delicioso! That chimichanga though, OMG! I can tell you right now that I'll be going back. This place is super small so if you go in there with a large group of more than 6 people you've already seated half of the restaurant.

This would be an amazing place for a small family gathering. My only negative comment would be that they didn't follow orders when my spouse asked them not to put guacamole with his food. He doesn't care for it so he didn't want it to be wasted. He has a thing about not wasting resources.

I don't blame him. Awesome Salvadoran food. Very home style, everything was fresh and made in house. The pupusas was my favorite. You can taste how fresh the tortilla was. Great spot to support a local business and eat tasty food.

Need a place to stay? Where City name. Rooms, guests. Rooms and guests. Search for hotels. Slide 1 of 4. Laotian restaurant. Thip Khao is a laotian restaurant in Washington where the chef has sparked a local renaissance for spicy, often herbal cooking. Dishes like the crispy coconut-rice salad with fermented pork nam khao and red goat curry are popular among customers.

Chef Seng Luangrath's signature dish is the fiery khao soi soup, which has quickly become one of the city's most popular items. Thip Khao is a great little intimate date night restaurant.

They offer outdoor and indoor dining. Our table was ready when we arrived for dinner and the service was very pleasant. All of the food was delicious with the exception of the pork and rice which I felt lacked a bit of flavor and the rice was dry and hard.

But other than that 1 dish missing the mark, everything else was fantastic. The Jerry was very tasty and perfect texture. The papaya salad with the Laotian level of spice really pushed it.

I handle a lot of spice, so it wasn't too bad for my but my date really had a bit of a shock when she tried it as I also noticed the table next to me sweating from the heat. But that is to be expected when eating from a place that takes pride in their level of spicy and taste. The drinks were fantastic and the noodles were a great soft taste after having the papaya salad.

All in all I'd happily return and explore more of the menu. The glorious reviews did not lie. We went after a long hike and the food was delightful, full of flavors and textures.

I recommend every single dish I tried see pictures. They adjust spiciness upon request, which is great: I asked for a very mildly spicy dish the fermented chili rice , as I like spice but my tolerance is still pretty low, and it was just perfect.

Very attentive staff as well. Flavorful food for a great price, and a wonderful atmosphere. Really loved how kind the staff were, and I really can't describe how well they invited the spices into every dish. It's good to get a variety of appetizers and mains if you are with a group, and just share amongst all of you.

You'd be better off ordering a regular hot tea. The drinks had the hint of the Asian flavor, but something about the ratio was incorrect which listed the quality e. g too much milk, the wrong mix of alcohol, etc. But decent overall!

Thrilled to find this lovely spot. Would try a different main next time. Definitely nice to have vegetarian and vegan options on the menu. The dessert one option was heavenly - a sweet rice base with a mango-coconut porridge, not too sugary but an excellent way to round out the meal.

Reservations are a good idea, though 2 people might be able to squeeze in depending on the night. The food was amazing! The sour pork belly one was amazing the dessert was really good. The food is very affordable we all just bought a dish and shared it to try everything.

Came with high expectations and were more or less content with the experience. The lump crab and mushroom noodle dish was so close to being perfect, but it was unnecessarily salty.

Detracted from the otherwise subtle flavors and lovely presentation. The chicken skewers were very good, but once again the dipping sauce was saltier than needed. And I like salt. Prices are fairly high but not unreasonable.

Good outdoor and indoor seating options. Will be back for sure. This is the best asian food I have ever had. I found this place to be recommended everywhere on reddit and decided to give it a try. We got the peanut salad, prawn glass noodles and grilled chicken hearts.

The chicken hearts were an out of the world experience. It reminded me of my childhood. The peanut salad was lip smacking delicious. The noodles were tossed in a sweet sour sauce and tasted perfect. We will be back to try the other items.

Definitely one of my favourite places in DC! A must go spot for vegetarians as everything was so so flavourful. We went there on a Thursday and it got busier towards the end of the night so I would suggest reserving before you go.

We had the popular Naem Khao highly deserving of all the hype it gets , the two tofu dishes on the menu both which were amazing!

I loved the dill tofu wrapped inside banana leaves and the pumpkin for dessert! Just writing this review is making my mouth water. Incredible food and service. The staff are quite kind and the ambience is lovely. The food is priced reasonably given their large portions.

Highly recommend checking out their desserts! Would come again. Just absolutely delicious. Got the only red wine on the menu and it was such a wonderful pairing with both our meals. A fruity, slightly dry wine to match the heavy, hearty food. Have come back many times and will continue.

I think my only comment would be on the noise level when it gets really busy but that seems normal these days. Fried yellow noodle was our favorite - flavorful and was different than typical dishes we could find at SE Asian restaurants.

So delicious. The food was great. We went for early dinner with reservation. Parking was a hassle so get there early. We had three mains for two people.

Was too much but definitely worth the trip. Would highly recommend. Had fried rice, curry noodle and crispy catfish. Eritrean restaurant. Ethiopian restaurant. The food is hearty and includes many pasta-based dishes. The restaurant has a loyal following of both locals and expats who come for lunch and dinner.

This is my second time eating Ethiopian food and it was a true delight. I was feeling under the weather and needed a wholesome nutritious meal and decided to get their Special Shiro.

It was creamy, flavorful, scrumptious. I was also pleasantly surprised when I found out my order came with an extra of Enjera bread filled with their lentil sauce and spinach. Thank you for a wonderful culinary experience! The food is not something I would crave often but I'm happy that I tried it.

I found it flavorful and very filling. The injera is addicting and the lentils were my favorite. The food is affordable with generous portions. The restaurant is small with limited seating and busy.

I would definitely return to try more menu options. I heard their breakfasts are amazing. Delicious food, amazing atmosphere and excellent service as well. It deserves 5 stars ladies and gentlemen. Thank you. Everyone who works here is so sweet and it felt super homey.

I loved the food I ordered and would be great to share with a few people. Went here for lunch on a week day and the service was fast. Will definitely be back for dinner with some friends! After hearing raving reviews from our friends, we finally tried this place…..

which quickly became our favorite Ethiopian place in the city. The meal was fabulous and Uber filling. We got there right at the right time because it became packed on a Friday evening! A cute family style Eritrean restaurant near Dupont Circle in Washington DC.

Friendly staff and tasty dishes! The dishes and stews were flavorful and fresh. They also offer American style breakfast, but I encourage you to get out of your comfort zone and try a new dish here.

Vegetarian friendly. Plenty of options for meat lovers, vegetarians, and vegans alike. Amazing Eritrean food! It was my first time trying Eritrean cuisine and this restaurant definitely exceeded all expectations. The staff were very friendly!

Keren is located in a high-energy neighborhood full of mom-and-pop shops. They operate a very modest space with great food and warm smiles.

The food was good. The beef could have been a bit more tender. The injera was great. Soft and tangy. There is 1 lady taking care of the front of house. She did her best but service was kind of slow.

But the taste was amazing,!!!! We had a fantastic experience here! Amazing food and such good prices. We ordered the Keren special 4 with chicken and thought it was delicious! The wait staff were super kind and helpful, especially helping us decide what to order.

I would highly recommend! The combo platter was plenty of food for 2 people with lots of leftovers. We came at 7 on a Saturday party of 2 and had to wait about 15 minutes before being sat, which is totally worth it!

What a wonderful surprise on our trip to dc. We were looking for something different and came across Keren restaurant. The food was so good and so different than anything we had before, and the staff was really friendly and welcoming. It was definitely worth the wait and would recommend this for anyone looking for something different but still accessible.

Slide 1 of 2. Vegan restaurant. Kosher restaurant. Vegetarian restaurant. Soups, salads, and snacks - all veganized with Middle Eastern flavors - are served at this popular Israeli eatery.

Lot's of delicious and healthy Mediterranean vegan inspired food. I got the Za'atar Cauliflower bowl with extra spicy sauce. They have both indoor and outdoor seating if you want to dine-in.

Overall, I was extremely satisfied and will be visiting this establishment again. The falafel itself, not sure I've ever tasted the difference of flavor in the falafel itself, BUT the whole thing put together with the ingredients on it, way better than almost ever place I've had it.

I really liked falafel, but I think it's been taken to another level here. But, don't trust me, please, go taste it for yourself.

And if you're not vegan or vegetarian, it really is worth going to this vegan restaurant. Wish I could try the burger, but I won't eat mushrooms. Sorry Carla.
